Consultation Now Open: Independent Living & Care Needs Policy

Share

2nd April 2026

Thorner’s Homes has launched a consultation on its updated Independent Living & Care Needs Policy, which sets out how we support residents to live safely and independently within our almshouse community.

The policy provides greater clarity around:

  • What independent living means in practice
  • The type of support residents may need
  • How we work with health and social care partners if needs change

It also reinforces that Thorner’s Homes is not a care home, and that personal care must be provided by external services or family support.

We have published a range of supporting documents, including a resident summary leaflet and consultation letters, to help explain the policy clearly.

The consultation is open until 20th April 2026.

We welcome feedback from residents, families, and partner organisations.
