Robert Thorner Court

We have been on this site since 1932, when we relocated from where the Civic Centre was to be built. It is to the west of the City. Between 2010 and 2014, the majority of the buildings were demolished and rebuilt within landscaped grounds, with the front, ‘Centre Court’ remaining and is listed.

The flats at Robert Thorner Court are self-contained one bedroom flats, each with a guest bedroom though the accommodation is for single occupancy only.

The flat comprises: – an entrance hall, lounge, kitchen, bedroom, second guest bedroom, shower room with a level access walk in shower.

Central heating & hot water is supplied by a ‘central plant room’. There is a certain amount of built-in wardrobe/cupboard space and an electric cooker with separate hob are installed in the kitchen.

The building has a secure door entry system and is served by two lifts.  There is a residents’ lounge, laundry and a mobility scooter/bicycle store.

There is very limited parking offered here, strictly on a first come, first served basis for residents only. However at present, there is unrestricted parking on the streets around.

The site is a short walk away from the facilities offered on Shirley High Street. Here you can also find buses in to the City Centre.
